Cost of living in Croatia, Zagreb Based on our guide for expatriation to Croatia and Zagreb and information from our expat author @elaineritchel: The cost of living in Zagreb is quite high relative to average salary, which ranges from 5,000 - 10,000 kuna (658 - 1317 euro) monthly. Coffee, beer, and wines by the glass are typically very affordable compared to other European countries. Lunches are generally quite cheap, but dinner in a restaurant (rather than a casual grill) can be fairly expensive. For a main dish, a side, and a beverage, it's not unusual to pay around 150 kunas per person. Clothing, electronics, furniture, and other household furnishings are relatively pricey in Croatia. Studio apartment in the center - 250 to 300 euro Coffee (espresso shot) with milk - 10-15 kunas Pint of local beer - 12-15 kunas Liter of milk - 7 kunas Eggs (10) - 15-20 kunas Bakery sandwich - 10-15 kunas Restaurant lunch - 35-50 kunas Restaurant dinner - 70-150 kunas Tram/bus ticket - 15 kunas Pair of sneakers - 550 kunas Toaster - 260 kunas Bottle of shampoo - 18 kunas Do you have any other detail? Any comment?
Hi, It is worth mentioning that local currency is called Kuna, usualy labeled as "kn" or "HRK" (HRvatska Kuna). It has got its name from a small, furry animal called kuna (eng. marten, similar to weasel), whose fur was used as commodity money in ancient times. To get the latest exchange rates for Kuna, it is best to look at Croatian National Bank (Hrvatska Narodna Banka) web site at HNB.hr. The exchange rate for Euro is around 7.5 Kunas for 1 Euro, and has been stable for years. When exchanging Euro to Kuna in local currency exchange shops, you should not get much less than 7.5 : 1, your lowest limit should be 7.3, so be carefull. Kn to Eur: 10 Kn = 1.33 Eur 100 Kn = 13.33 Eur 1000 Kn = 133.3 Eur Eur to Kn: 1 Eur = 7.5 Kn 10 Eur = 75 Kn 100 Eur = 750 Kn I hope this helps. Danijel
